Trump said in his statement that his Mar-A-Lago club is “currently under siege, raiding and occupation by a large group of FBI agents. He added that FBI agents “even broke into my safe. Trump also linked the FBI crackdown to premeditated political persecution ahead of the 2022 midterms and his potential 2024 re-election bid, as well as an onslaught by radical left Democrats who desperately don’t want me running for president in 2024, particularly based on the recent polls, and that they will also do whatever it takes to hold off Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections,” Trump said.
CNN reported Trump was not in Florida at the time of the FBI raid. The FBI raid reportedly focused on Trump’s homes and offices. The FBI told American Military News, “We have no comment.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy issued a statement warning Attorney General Merrick Garland that an investigation was underway. “I’ve seen enough. intolerable state of armed politicization.
If the Republicans take back the House of Representatives, we will immediately oversee that department, follow the facts and leave no stone unturned,” McCarthy said.”Attorney General Garland, keep your documents and clear your calendar.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also issued a statement condemning the raid as a political move. “The [Mar-A-Lago] crackdown is another escalation in the use of guns by federal agencies against political opponents of the regime while treating people like Hunter Biden with kid gloves. Now the regime is getting another 87,000 IRS agents to crack down on their opponents?” DeSantis said.
