wasted potential. based on the stephen king book and a reboot to the 1984 movie. parents of a gifted child who can set any thing a blaze within close proximity of herself are all being pursued by a government agency called DSI. depart of scientific intelligence so they can use the child for their own evil purposes. starts ok but movie (which looks like a TV pilot episode) is then badly rushed in the 2nd and 3rd acts and does not work effectively. a good cast tries their best but movie becomes bland and lifeless, generic bad guys and it has one of the most self defeating endings ever. nothing memorable or even engaging. this needs to go on the stephen king reboot failures list. great carpenter score but finally in the end a hollow sad disappointment. a 2 out of 10.
